The Colon

The large bowel or colon forms the last 5 feet of the digestive system. It carries out a number of vital functions including the absorption of water, nutrients and some vitamins. The colon plays a major part in the elimination of food waste and provides a storage area for this waste until it exits the body. In a normal functioning colon, this is achieved with the help of billions of friendly bacteria that naturally inhabit the colon. The time taken from food entering the mouth to elimination as waste from the body should be between 12-24 hours. Irregular bowel actions can result in fermentation, toxins and decay building up inside the colon.

Colon Hydrotherapy

Research has shown that regular use of refined carbohydrates and lack of fibre in the diet decreases the transit time of bowel waste and promotes putrefaction in the colon. In addition to this each day our bodies absorb toxic chemicals and additives in the foods and drink we ingest and the environment in which we live. As these substances are absorbed into our blood stream they act as toxins to our living cells. The body is unable to eliminate all of these toxins if the faecal matter is allowed to build up in our colon.

Colon hydrotherapy helps to detoxify and tone the colon muscle and promotes a healthy transit time through the digestive system. This helps cleanse the body of excess waste, toxins and bad bacteria. Many people find improvements in energy levels, sleep patterns, constipation, bloating, skin problems and food intolerance problems.

Colon hydrotherapy is not painful or embarrassing. You will have the treatment whilst lying down completely covered. The machine helps to keep the colon hydrotherapy as gentle as possible and the therapist will  massage your abdomen to help relax your bowel during the treatment.
